Space Deer as it Goes

April 28, 2011

A little bit more, a little bit more.

Looking but not Finding

April 20, 2011

This one feels pretty good.  The browns got a little out of control, but I can live with that.  I think the best thing a painting (or in this case a colored drawing) can do is inspire the next one.  And work has already begun on the next.

For the Trees

This one looks ok from across the room but quickly falls apart up close.
As for the Space Deer game, I had a bit of inspiration from watching my three year old play Shoots and Ladders.  What she does is line the four game pieces on squares one through four, rolls the dice and moves each piece the number of squares.  Because of the shoots and ladders the pieces quickly become separated.
I really like the way this looks and think there is something really fun there.  It pairs continual movement with unforeseen dispersion.  I think it could work well with the Space Deer.

Return to Watercolor’s Cool Embrace

April 5, 2011

So the Space Deer game needs some major work, and has put up some serious blocks to the enjoyment of Space Deer in general.  What happened man, you used to be about killing whales and tricking birds.  Falling in love, man.  Serious stuff.  Now all you can talk about are systems with in systems and mechanics.  I need a breather, and a four-foot by two-foot piece of watercolor paper.
